on 2/6 Pacman RX was updated to fix a bug where the score in the attract mode was added to the game when you started.
A new Japanese skin and bezel was also added. On 6/6 a bug in the Japanese cutscene was fixed.
'Standard Loader' versions of Pacman RX and Puckman RX were included for those having compatibility issues.

Hi Loading this from tape on my Issue 2 spectrum 48k, the game crashes after displaying all the random characters then grid, it starts to display the high score screen then resets the computer. I tried the standard loader version both pac/puck as well. Does it only work from sdcard?
sorry to hear that, this is the first time I've heard of this issue. Let me know which issue 2 you are using and I'll see if I can test it.
Hi thank you, it is just a normal 48k spectrum issue 2, was not aware there were different issue 2s? It is using stock ULA and has been recapped/7805 replaced with switching unit. Loading from tape on an old Panasonic rebranded tape player from the 80s, tried different tapes just in case but it made no difference.
I have also run zxdiag rom soak test for several hours just to check everything but it is fine. It is only this game that crashes that I have found.
sorry, my mistake, I read your post too quickly and thought you meant +2. Could you try the following for me:
PRINT PEEK 2815 : PRINT PEEK 2816
And tell me the results. keyboard shortcut for peek is caps+symbolshift + O
If you don't get 34 and128 then you have a non-standard ROM which could be the cause of the issue. If not, I'm somewhat stumped!
thanks!
I get 34,128. all the main board components are original, I did try it with a vLA82 ULA chip as well and it did the same thing. I will be building a DIY issue 3b soon so will try on that, to see if that works.
hmmm... ok. I have no idea what the issue is then. Aside from the digital version which has been tested extensively on various emulators, the game has been released as a physical tape so there are quite a few people out there playing on real hardware and I've never had an issue. It's very odd.
Very good Pacman game, thank you. I also added it to my new "Gameplay of New ZX Spectrum Games from May 2024" video.
Love the new Puckman version but the cutscenes are a bit messed up.
yes, I'm aware of this issue, I'll be fixing it soon
Fantastic stuff. Made a couple of tape covers for the two versions :)
thanks, but there will be an official Midnight Brew cassette release coming later this year. The cover is already done, just not announced yet.
I figured there would be, just placeholders for people with frontends :)
Thank you very much for creating and allowing us to access this wonderful conversion. I really liked the frames just like the arcade and that when the game starts it seems like the arcade starts, also the sound, graphics, playability... everything. Congratulations!
Awesome!
Another classic from Happy Coding. Must buy.
Many thanks for this ( and all the other games you do ), here is my tribute...
Does your game implement cornering technique?
yes
