Asteroids RX
A downloadable game
Asteroids RX is a 'from scratch' conversion of two classic Atari games, Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe. It was chosen in a poll by my supporters on Patreon as a game for me to convert. Versions for the 48k,128k and a version with Spectrum Next enhancements are included. Also included is a version for the Dragon 32 / CoCo computer, converted by Pere Serrat, in both VDK and DSK format
This game was coded by myself in 100% machine code, in my bedroom! The 14-year old kid I used to be has therefore told me to dedicate this game to Sir Clive Sinclair, the man who made it possible for all of us Spectrum fans, and who sadly passed away just a few days before the release.
Note that whilst you can buy this game here as a one-off, you might want to consider supporting me on Patreon instead. This game is included as part of that subscription, as well as my full back catalogue. The cost of a month's subscription is less than the price of this game.

I think it´s time to release by free.
Thanks for your input. Fortunately some people think it is still worth paying the small price for, even if you are not one of them.
Nice game!
Dragon32 emulated via Xroar using .vdk:
At around 28k, I experienced some funky business going on with, apparent, invisible asteroids. I'd clear the screen but wouldn't advance to next level. Firing blind, I'm able to hit something, I see explosions, but no asteroids. A few mystery hits and then I can advance.

thanks, I've passed this on to the guy who converted the game to see if we can fix it.
updated game added, please try and let me know if the issue persists.
I have a Coco3 with 512K RAM upgrade. The game doesn't work on my system. When I hit fire, the asteroids are frozen and duplicated. No bullets come out.
I'll look into this and let you know
Awesome, thanks!
Hi there - Pere, who did the conversion, said this:
using XRoar, after loading the .DSK disk and entering the command
LOADM"AST38T9H":EXEC
I can play without issues as many times as I have tried this version ... I have tested with 128K and also with 512K expansion
both in PAL and NTSC video outputs
Maybe he could tell us more about the problem ?
I mean, is he using an MPI while playing? or maybe other peripherals?
Send along thanks to Pere.
It's original hardware, with the 512K RAM upgrade - Triad 512 from http://www.cloud9tech.com/. NTSC video using the switch-a-roo https://cocoman.onlineweb.shop/Switch-a-roo_SCART_cable/p7004829_20319861.aspx. Yes, I have an MPI, and using the CocoSDC to load the game.
updated game added, please try and let me know if the issue persists.
I've experienced the same issue with my Coco 3 (NTSC), 512k RAM. Loading the .DSK from a CoCoSDC and outputting via composite. There is also some text issues at the bottom of the title screen. Here is a vid:
Thanks for the video, and for being patient - I've passed this on to Pere and hopefully we'll fix it soon!
updated game added, please try and let me know if the issue persists.
please try the new version, thanks!
Excellent project! Please make sure to include the CoCo DSK image in your bundle. I only saw the VDK for the Dragon. Thank you!

Just wanted to say congrats on an awesome version of one of my favourite arcade classics.
Really done justice to it on both the classic Spectrums as well as the Next.

The definitive Spectrum version of Asteroids IMO. Thank you!

Looking to review this for CRASH magazine. Are you able to sent a review copy?
I already sent it to Chris actually
I'm just working a few bonus features, so if you can wait until after the weekend I will send an updated copy to Chris.
I've notified Chris, I guess he will know who you are? I've sent him a copy anyway.
Sorry, meant to reply - yeah we got it (obviously)
